The sieving mill MF-3

Brief Overview

  • The MF-3 is attuned to smaller batch production. With an output ranging from 200 kg/h to maximum 500 kg/h, it is tailor-made for small production batches and kilogram-size laboratory procedures. The MF-3 combines all of the advantages of oscillating milling of powders and granulates.

  • The MF-3 can be used for powders with a particle size up to 5 cm. The MF-3 shows it’s real strengths with particle sizes as small as 250 μm. Like it’s sisters, the MF-3 can be operated in continuous mode, providing results identical to those of the larger MF-6 and MF-8 mills.

  • Optimally engineered with pivotable front doors, the sieve, as well as the rotor is easy to remove, enabling quick cleaning of the milling chamber. A large selection of sieve types (round wire, rectangular wire), including rasping and perforated plates, is available for use, depending on the final result desired.

Constructions

Constructions

The modular, compact, and intelligent construction of the mill offers numerous advantages to the operator.
- Readily abailable access to the milling chamber, due to the large
  pivoting front door.
- The sizing tools, i.e., rotor, sieve, screen-support, are easy to
change in just a few steps.
- The drive motor is protected by a hood.
- The inlet and outlet funnels are easily detachable via four eye bolts.
- A Profi-Bant can be attached to the outlet funnel for dust-free filling.

Process

Process

The oscillating and rotating sieve mill guarantees optimum sizing results plus excellent flow rates. The oscillating rotor movement, ensuring constant, uniform speed and force effect gentle sizing of the product. The advantage of this process resides in an exceptionally low fine particle fraction in the end product, as well as being capable of processing heat sensitive products.

The sieve, a key factor in sizing

In addition to the proper adjustment of the mill, selecting the right size and appropriate sieve geometry are a key factors for optimum sizing results.
Square mesh sieve for fragmentation and dry sizing:
-   The material is fragmented on the edge of the square mesh
wire and not finely ground, as is the case with a round mesh
    sieve.
The advantage therein is a 20% improvement in performance.

Round mesh sieve for wet sizing:
-    To produce a granular product, it is necessary to cut through wet
mass. These sieves consequently have a very fine wire relative
     to the mesh size.
Conclusion: the thinner the cut, the less effort required.

The rotor plays a very important role in sizing. For this reason it is necessary to prevent wear, as this reduces the efficiency of the mill by:
-    poorer performance
-    discrepancy in granulometry
-    greater fine particle fraction
Obviously, another important factor is the adjustment of the space between the rotor and sieve via the rigid screen support or the sieve tensioner.

Applications

Applications

The oscillating sieve mill is ideal for use in industrial processes in addition to being ideal for processing small amounts of product in laboratories. Enabled by it's modular concept and it's versatile sizing system provided by the oscillating or rotary rotor movement, the sieve mill can be employed everywhere, particularly for heat sensitive or difficult-to-process products. Wherever fine particle fractions, narrow grain size range, and low heat stress are important; the oscillating sieve mill is the answer.
